On my needles...

The most frequent question I hear around the shop is "what are you knitting this week?" So, I am going to show you a picture each week of what is on my needles. And to go along with that...whatever I am working on will be 20% off that week! So be sure to check out our website each week, or come by the shop to see what is on the needles!


On my needles this week...Waterlily cabled socks! I have not made soack in a while and when I saw this pattern for cabled socks on #9 needles using the beautiful Waterlily yarn I was inspired! The socks take 3 balls of Waterlily and they are a pretty quick knit since the yarn is worsted weight and you are using bigger needles! The colors of this yarn are amazing. I think this will be my favorite pair of cozy socks for the winter! I am even going to offer a class this Thursday and next to teach you how to make the socks. The class is $60 and includes the yarn, pattern booklet, and two hours of class. You will need #9 needles in any style that you like to knit socks. We will also have the yarn, books, and needles available for 20% off this week at the shop!

Summer Sweater Challenge!

We are off and running with completed sweaters already coming in!!!

Join us for our Summer Sweater Challenge as we try to make as many sweaters as we can between Memorial Day and Labor Day! We will be donating the sweaters to the Guideposts Knit for Kids program. this is a wonderful program that collects hand-knitted and hand-crocheted sweaters and distributes them to children around the world. Guideposts provides free patterns and Baskets of Yarn will provide the yarn! We just need you to help us by providing your time and talent. Come by Baskets of Yarn to pick up your pattern and yarn (or you can use your own stash). Then join us any Thursday evening from 6pm-8pm or Saturday mornings from 10am-12pm to work on your sweaters and get any help you may need! As you complete each sweater bring it to Baskets of Yarn and you will receive a discount card for 25% OFF your purchases that day! We will collect all of the sweaters and send them to Guideposts the first week in September. Until then we will have them on display at Baskets of Yarn so everyone can see all of the hard work and love that goes into making the sweaters.

Upcoming Knit Night Events:
August 12 - Warm Up for the Year of Crochet Blocks! Every 3rd Thursday Patty will teach a new crochet block. This Thursday we will warm anyone up with a hook who wants to participate. To register for the year-long series that begins in August CLICK HERE. This Thursday is also Seaming Help Night! Come in with your UFO's that need to be finished we will teach you to seam your garments! This is a FREE workshop and it is first come first served!
August 19 - Summer Sweater Challenge Night! Come with your sweater "in the works" and we will have special treats for you!

From I-77, exit Tyvola Road and head towards South Blvd. At the first light turn right on Westpark. Bear to the right and go past the car dealerships and hotels. Turn left on Griffith Road. We are in Fordham Park which will be on your right (after Griffith Commercial Park and before the Doggy Day Care). Turn into Fordham Park and continue straight ahead towards the loading dock doors. Bear to your right at the end of the driveway and then to your left around the building. We are located in the center of the building in Suite D directly across from the mailbox. See you soon!
