Patty's Bookshelf

Patty’s Bookshelf

I have always loved knitting and crochet books and magazines. I love reading them and I love looking at all the pictures. I thought you might enjoy exploring the bookshelf with me. As often as I can, I’ll include a book that isn’t necessarily a new edition, but is one that we have in the store that you might be interested in. All books are always 20% off the manufacturers suggested price.

“Gifted: lovely little things to knit + crochet” by Mags Kandis

I liked this book because it had both knit and crochet patterns.  It also has felted patterns and is perfect for those gifts you need to get done quickly.  I especially liked the linen wrap and the gilded mesh scarf pattern.  This mesh scarf pattern is what prompted my filet crochet scarf out of Vizions that we pictured in a previous newsletter.

"The Knitters Handy Book of Patterns" by Ann Budd

This is not your typical pattern book. You are not going to be blown away by the complex designs or beautiful yarn textures. It is your “basic” pattern book and is great for either beginner knitters or beginner designers. I could easily see designers using these patterns as their “starting point” for the basics and then adjusting and elaborating from there. For those of you who come to us and say “I just need a basic pattern for …” this is your book!

Other books by Ann Budd: Getting Started Knitting Socks, The Knitters Handy Book of Sweater Patterns, Sock Knitting Master Class, Favorite Socks, Simple Style…and the list goes on.

We have 2 of these in the store if you are interested! 25% off this week only!

"Knitting 24/7" by Veronik Avery

This book has a great premise…we are all hooked on knitting and like to squeeze it into every minute of down time we have. The book has 30 projects that are mainly hats, scarves, socks and bags. These patterns all share the commonality of portability and easy to memorize patterns. I think you will really enjoy this book and easily find 5 – 10 patterns that you will fall in love with. I especially liked the Transitional Scarf and the Mesh Layering Tank.
